I saw bears, and there were tigers

After what seems like an eternity waiting it seems that Drowned in Sound Recordings are finally ready to release Emmy The Great's first single 'Secret Circus'. Now obviously, unless you're on your deathbed or just plain miserable, you're going to want to buy it, and you can do just that on the 27th of March! So soon, I hear you exclaim!
It's available on the Drowned in Sound Recording Digital Singles Club (or DiSRDSC if you're an idiot) from, like, every download store in the world; or you can get one of those new fangled 7" vinyl things that everyone's talking about from Fear and Records. Put it in your diaries.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs are back, but you knew that. The Diplo remix of Gold Lion is incredible, but you knew that. They have really awesome LiveJournal and MSN avatars here, but you probably even knew that didn't you? And they have one of those annoying desktop buddies for download here, did you know that?
You can buy tickets and stuff too:
13th/Camber Sands / All Tomorrow's Parties // £125
16th/London / The Forum // £18
17th/London / The Forum // £18
19th/Glasgow / Barrowlands // £15
20th/Manchester / Academy // £15
21st/Birmingham / Academy // £15

Tonight Swish Blog-favourites Action Plan launch their debut single 'Stendhal'/'Beauty Scars' (released on Young & Lost Records no less) at Push Bar in Soho (in fact it's at, unsurprisingly, the Young & Lost Club).
If you're interested in going to the gig here are the details:
ACTION PLAN SINGLE LAUNCH
THE PUSH BAR, DEAN STREET, W1
DOORS 8pm-1am, FREE ENTRY
LIVE SETS FROM ACTION PLAN, THE B PLAN & FEAR OF FLYING
DJ SETS FROM RAZORLIGHT, JET, COLIN DIS, GRANDAD & THE PYHRRA GIRLS.
We have been told to tell everyone to get there for when doors open to
ensure entry as it looks like it's gonna be busy.
You should, of course, also consider buying the single because it is ace (both tracks having featured on Swish Blog Playlist Mixes in the past). If this interests you then I have been informed that you can buy the single from: Pure Groove, Rough Trade (both London), Jumbo Records (Leeds), Vinyl Junkie, Escalotour Records (Japan) and www.onthefringe.co.uk

You may have noticed the 'Get Test Icicles Into The Top Twenty' campaign I’ve been running here on The Swish Blog for the past week, thanks to everyone who took heed of my frenzied campaigning and bought the single; remember one Test Icicle is worth seven Arctic Monkeys when it boils down to the future of world music - we're talking Wyld Stallyns stuff here.
Anyway they didn't make the Top 20, finally coming home at number 25 which, although not as good as we'd originally hoped, is still pretty good. That's two places above Audio Bullys (sic) - who were on Top Of The Pops last night - and one place below Magic Numbers - who seem to have whored themselves out to every TV show going this week.

This has already been posted to my livejournal and myspace today, so if you stalk me (or are just really fond of me) you may have already seen this, if not please read on.
Please buy Circle. Square. Triangle by Test Icicles now! It's #25 in the Tuesday midweeks at the moment with 1,256 sales but I'm sure we can do better than that; Arctic Monkeys didn't have an MC Lars remix on their single after all.
buy
physical: hmv | pure groove | amazon digital: karma download | itunes
But remember: if you buy from itunes make sure you rip out the restricting (and in my opinion illegal) DRM by burning the track to a CD and then ripping it back into itunes.

'I promise I only dropped acid once...'

I know I've just updated but I couldn't resist this one, The Strokes have tentatively named their third studio album 'First Impressions Of Earth' (via nme.com)
Singer Julian Casablancas has been quoted as saying, "The album's kind of about how someone from outer space would objectively view things happening on earth..."
Hahaha, they have entered the 'going fucking mental' stage of their development then?

M.I.A. & G.L.C.
January 22, 2004
Last night Zane played two fucking kick ass songs, number one was ‘Gulang, Ulang, Ulang’ (or something to that effect) by M.I.A., the second was ‘Your mother’s got a penis’ by Goldie Looking Chain. I’d heard of GLC before, and had a few of their songs downloaded off their website like ‘Monkey Love’ and ‘Delivery Man’, but until I heard ‘Your mother’s got a penis’ I thought they were just a novelty comedy act.The end.
