More than Hedi Slimane and Daft Punk..

April 13, 2006

Adam Kesher are French, they've worked with someone who had previously produced Elliott Smith, Dandy Warhols and Poison, and they make the sort of noisy stuff that tingles your thingies. If you're subscribed to my podcast then you should be receiving a little nugget of Kesher goodness about... now. If you're not subscribed to my podcast, do so by copying this url http://www.swishblog.co.uk/swishcast/podcast.xml into iTunes or whatever you use for podcasts and subscribe away!

Change of website url and rss feed url!

February 24, 2006

Hello. Due to our continuing webhost move the website url has now changed *officially* to swishblog.co.uk; so although you'll still be able to access The Swish Blog through abougu.co.uk, abougu.co.uk/swishblog/ and swishblog.net they will simply be redirects.

As a consequence the RSS feed for The Swish Blog has changed to http://www.swishblog.co.uk/atom.xml (ATOM), and http://www.swishblog.co.uk/index.xml (RSS 2.0), please update your links and feeds.

Thanks for your patience.

More spazzing

February 20, 2006

As I alluded to earlier, during the F-up I lost all of my audio files and my podcast xml feed, which was a bit of a downer as I'd just updated it so you could download almost all of my previous 20 Podcasts. Luckily I had a backup of the audio files, and they are now back on the server available to download: go mad. Unfortunately I didn't have a back up of the Podcast xml feed, so - although there is a limited version up live on the server now - that will take a little longer to restore (the time it takes me to rewrite the whole thing in fact)..

In the meantime, download any of my podcast episodes directly from here. Woop.

Podcasting across the universe...

November 23, 2005

It has occurred to me that despite the Podcast of my (almost) weekly playlist mixes being available for the past seven months, many of you may not have subscribed because the link to subscribe has been hidden down at the bottom of the right sidebar for all that time.
So, now that Podcasts seem to be literally TAKING OVER THE WORLD, with everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Harry Potter getting in on the act I thought I'd flag up my feed to you all.

Firstly, a small introduction to Podcasts for any surviving luddites out there. What you must first realise is that podcasts aren't exclusively for iPods, The Swish Blog Podcast is an mp3 file that can be played on any compatible personal digital audio player, or media player on your computer (such as Windows Media Player or iTunes).
The point of a Podcast is that you get the media file automatically delivered to your computer each time a new one is available. To do this you must 'subscribe' to the Podcast. To do this you will need Podcast software, the three I would recommend are iTunes, Juice (formerly iPodder) and Odeo, once you have the software all you have to do is copy the Podcast URL into the software and click 'subscribe'.

The Swish Blog Podcast URL:
High Quality (160kbps) version of the Podcast

Low Quality (64kbps) version of the Podcast

Overheard in JB's Phone

October 06, 2005

Some of you may have heard of awesome ear-wigging-voyeur site Overheard in New York where sharp-eared NYCers share other people's conversations with the waiting webbies on a daily basis. Well I experienced an interesting ear-wig yesterday which I think is worthy of OINY - if only I lived on the other side of the Atlantic - instead I think I'll share it here:

On the Central Line, two smart-suited-but-young city girls.

City Girl 1: He's not even that cute man, if he was cute and he carried on like that it'd be ok, y'know?
City Girl 2: Yeah, and his hair looks really gay.

My second bit of tittle-tattle regards the new girl in Eastenders... she's James Bourne's (yeah, that guy from Busted) ex-girlfriend!
If any of you watched America Or Busted on MTV last year (don't worry, you don't have to admit it publicly) you would have heard the lovely Kara Tointon brashly berating poor James for constantly phoning her whilst he was on tour in America; I think they were breaking up at the time, but this girl was harsh. He offered to fly her over to New York for the weekend and she told him that he was being ridiculous, childlike and inconsiderate of her feelings. Haha.

Issues resolved

June 01, 2005

Hello again! Hopefully you've noticed the site is back up and running again - apologies to all for the downtime, 20GB of bandwidth seemed more than enough when I bought it - expect a catch-up post later on today. In the meantime, welcome back!

The Following Post is...

March 16, 2005

Today: a number of links for you to have a quick gander at. I found them interesting. You probably wont.

THE FOLLOWING LINK IS EMPATHETIC

Fantabulous bite-back at the Colleen Rooney haterzzz.

THE FOLLOWING LINK IS CONTEMPLATIVE

A big list of clichés about bloggers. Actually I think posting the link to this is in fact listed as a blogging cliché itself. Damn.

THE FOLLOWING LINK IS BANAL

Babyshambles are playing Frog at Nambucca. So what?

THE FOLLOWING LINK IS UNFORSEEEN

It’s well known that a lot of American (read NYC) bloggers enjoy the sounds of M.I.A. (in the same way that they collectively went after The Arcade Fire towards the end of last year). It was a major surprise to me however that a blogging stand-up comedian was able to ask, “You guys heard of M.I.A.?” at one of his stand-up shows, and for everybody to nod their heads in agreement. [watch the video]

james bourne appreciation society

November 20, 2003

i've realised that i totally missed the boat in the naming of my page. a love for all things charlie had blinded me to the fact that james from busted is better in every way, shape or form. additionally my so-called resemblance to said popstar could have easily led a more nimble mind to the conclusion that 'the bourne identity' would have been a fucking great weblog name.

Anonymously confess to all your deepest dirty fantasies. btw: you may have noticed that i've got a playlist page now - it's the top 15 songs that i've played to myself this week, and i'm going to update it every week. it's really self-gratifying nonsense.
