Come on you silly people! If I can break my self-imposed blog silence for this gig, then you can get off your oversized-London bottoms and walk, roll or crawl (if you must) to the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen this Thursday night to see the fantastical Emmy The Great play songs and (probably) talk in between them.

It's £6.50ish to get in and there will be support on the night from Noah and The Whale, who have three songs to download on their myspace, which you probably should do. There will be some other bands playing and Fisherprice Soundsystem (featuring star of thelondonpaper Fred Les lolz) and Full Time Hobby will be DJing.

Here are the full details:

Jan 18 2007
@ Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen, LONDON
2-4 Hoxton Square Republic of Hoxton, London N1 6NU.
Headline set (full band)
+ Noah and the Whale and special guests
+ DJ's Fisherprice Soundsystem (feat. Fred Les) and Full Time Hobby
+ cakes baked and serve by the Viva Cake girls
Doors: 19:30

Below is a press release type thing:

"The acoustic, honey-voiced angel of British anti-folk." NME

Emmy the Great, who was tipped as the singer songwriter for 2007 by
Vogue, plays a special headline show this Thursday at Hoxton Bar and
Kitchen.

Emmy is the Hong Kong born folksy singer-songwriter who writes
heart-manipulating folk songs with a visual humour that makes you
smile whilst slowly dilating your tear ducts. In her short career she
has and supported on various occasions the likes of Martha Wainwright,
Mystery Jets, Tilly & the Wall, Jamie T, Kimya Dawson, KT Tunstall and
most recently Fyfe Dangerfield. The Guillemots front-man is a big fan
and has offered to could arrange orchestration on her forthcoming
second single. Her debut single was released last summer and coincided
with Emmy being the must-see highlight at Truck and End of the Road
festivals.

Thursdays show is a warm-up for UK tour dates supporting Scott
Matthews, ahead of a trip to the States to guest on the debut album by
Lightspeed Champion (Dev Test-Icicles)

Despite alarming levels of showmanship in the face of danger - including the suggestion in today's news that the stingray that killed him may have been provoked (and that the last time a stingray killed a person is Australia was 1945) - Steve Irwin was pretty brilliant. Not only did he achieve vast amounts in his short life - including creating Australia zoo, a place doing great things with endangered Australian species, as well as increasing the awareness of animal welfare and environmental issues across the world - but he could jump on the back of a crocodile and wrestle with it. That's pretty cool.

No, I haven't gone mad, I just thought about incredible amounts of career-forwarding that will go on when they throw the BB rejects back into the house. (Does anyone see this as anything else but an excuse to reinstate Nikki to the house in the face of dwindling interest?)

In Spiral's case this career-forwarding will mean LOTS MORE RAPPING; especially now that he's has a few weeks outside to tout his services to record industry peoples...

So, get ready for more of this:

PLUS: Getting into the spirit of things, I had a go at remixing the 'Spiral Song' clip that was unleashed by Popbitch a few weeks ago. It's meant to be Hardcore, and has a GUN SHOT! Oooh:
Here's a bit of a blurb about the bands they've got on this month from their myspace (the official website I made for them is currently 'down', whoops)

ROTATING LESLIE
www.myspace.com/rotatingleslie
This quintet famed for their warehouse parties unite catchy melodies and sharp guitars to create a truly unique brand of indie pop.

LOVE MINUS ZERO
www.myspace.com/loveminuszerouk
Happy, clappy, ska infused rhythm & blues with a hint of the past and a lot of the future. Dance not and you'll be sitting alone.

THE MORE ASSURED
www.myspace.com/themoreassured
They play jingly jangly indie pop tunes that'll make you want to grab the person nearest to you and dance round the room.

GREYHOUND GREEN
www.myspace.com/greyhoundgreen
Like the Libertines? Then you'll love Greyhound Green. Sing-along songs with a bit of bounce.

Get yourself down there this Friday.
