Despite alarming levels of showmanship in the face of danger - including the suggestion in today's news that the stingray that killed him may have been provoked (and that the last time a stingray killed a person is Australia was 1945) - Steve Irwin was pretty brilliant. Not only did he achieve vast amounts in his short life - including creating Australia zoo, a place doing great things with endangered Australian species, as well as increasing the awareness of animal welfare and environmental issues across the world - but he could jump on the back of a crocodile and wrestle with it. That's pretty cool.
