i moved to london

February 25, 2004

So now I've moved to london.
I'm poor, hungry and tired; and therefore pretty happy. I fulfil the happy little picture of a London street urchin I maintain in my head, oliver twist, dick Whittington, Pete Doherty. With only 2.50 in my pocket, and not new york, I have only my abilities to fall back on; which appeals to me.
Emily and Fiona are cool to live with so far, but with them disappearing to work and school every morning before the sun reaches my eyes I feel a bit detached from them. They ask me what I did with my day, but the quality of an exhibition in Shoreditch, or what happened in neighbours is hardly something to shout about whilst they're earning 100 a day or gracing the stage. So I feel a bit stuck, lost in my own (albeit new) home, I need to sort myself out, but unemployed life appeals, and a busy zone 1 pub doesn't; a problem, without enough money for 10 cigs.
So I sit here in the offices of radio 1, all of what I aspire too surrounding me, lost, without a chance in hell of entering this world.

kjell news story

February 19, 2004

It has recently been revealed that Norwegian prime minister kjell magne bondevik has come out in support of his namesake band, kjell from ormskirk in Lancashire, England.
Kjell have been attempting to spread word of their music for some time, and claim widespread listening will bring about the end of all war and suffering. It is reported that Norwegian prime minister kjell magne came across the band after putting his own name into google, and has subsequently became hooked to their catchy blend of drone pop and slapstick opera. He has since taken it upon himself to promote the band, and has been selling cd-r copies of their albums to other world leaders during his travels in his official capacity.
Chad stubbs and chris Gornell who make up the band refused to comment, but sources close to the band have said that they are "delighted".

kjell are back...

February 17, 2004

Oh yeah, the return of kjell. You knows it.
Get ‘I killed a pig’ or ‘Saturday morning 4:19’, or both! in avi format.
they were recorded this monday in the landing of my parents house after a few drinkies. the two songs offered were the only full or coherent songs i could salvage from over an hour of footage, and even they are pretty poor. however... rejoice! kjell have returned to us; soon the planets will align and heaven and earth will be as one, peace will reign, to the sound of kjell.

old women and mp3 players

February 12, 2004

I’m writing this on the train back to Liverpool from London, and I’ve noticed that my fellow travellers seem exceedingly technological. Of course you expect commuter businessmen-types with laptops on the train; although perhaps not 17 inch Powerbooks as far as the eye can see! On top of that I’ve finally seen a Rio Riot - one of those monstrously oversized hard drive mp3 players - gripped tightly in the hands of a Valentino clad office dude. Sat just two seats from him is a balding, middle-aged man proudly displaying his unblemished iPod atop his copy of White Teeth. Perhaps most surprisingly (or least if you’ve already grasped the gist of this entry), only a few seats from me sits a kindly looking elderly woman bent double over her Yepp 256mb mp3 player, listening undoubtedly to !!! or Brand New or something.

Today was also my last day of three working at radio 1, which was unbelievably joyous, and not at all shatpank as I had feared. I want a real job there, and I don’t care who I have to kill to get one (there is a one in about 250 chance of this meaning you dave!).

I’ve updated my playlist (see right column) please go there, good can only come of it.
